My *Things to do* List

I was surfing around the other night and I found a website by a lady named Nichole.  She has this list called Things to do by 2018.  These are things she wants to complete before she turns 40.  I thought about it and decided I probably should make a list like that, too.  Since 40 is a little closer than 2018 for me, I decided to make a five year list.  So here it is:

Things to do by July 20, 2014

  1. Learn French
  2. Learn Sign Language
  3. See at least 30 of the 50 states. (I have a bit of a head start on this, I've already seen 23)
  4. Own a new RV
  5. Lose 30 pounds
  6. perfect my muffin, cookie and brownie recipes
  7. Do some form of missionary/volunteer work in the US
  8. Volunteer at Choices for Women Resource Center
  9. Get closer to old friends
  10. Buy some land
  11. Remain debt free
I think 11 is enough considering it's only five years!  ;-)  What do you think?  Do you have your own *Things to do* List?  Is yours five years, ten years, or by your fortieth birthday?  Comment here and tell me about it!  I'd love to see your list, too..may give me some ideas!  :-)

Writing

I've always loved to write. Sometimes I write short stories, sometimes flash fiction. I currently write two family newsletters.  I particularly enjoy novels, but I can never bring myself to write that much. I get bored with it too quickly and I believe that's because I edit as I write. Some writers I've spoken with say they write this way, also, while others say they edit only after they have completed their work. I'm sure there are others who are somewhere in between. My way isn't working for me if I want to write a novel. With that in mind I began searching on-line for tips on staying focused while writing a novel and found a wonderful site. I do believe their take on novel writing will help me. Go visit NaNoWriMo or National Novel Writing Month. Participants will write 50,000 words between November 1, 2008 and November 30, 2008. Wow! Fifty Thousand words?! The key is to not worry about the editing. That will be very difficult for me. Even though there are times when I miss things, I may miss a space, put in an incorrect letter or worse, I do skim over what I'm writing as I write it, editing the entire work completely after I've finished. So, wish me luck. Beginning November 1st I will be writing around 1,667 words every day! (Not to mention anything else I may be writing at the time!) Better yet, join me! Go to the site and sign up. Be sure to contact me after you sign up. Misery loves company! ;-)

Tag! You’re it!

We're going to play a little game called tag.  No, it isn't your normal game of tag where we all run around trying to tag the other players.  Though I do still like to play that with the kids sometimes.  ;-) This game of tag is a bit different.  I will give a lead question.  I will answer that question and will tag ten other bloggers to do the same.  Here are the only rules: 1.  Each blog must link back to the previous blogs in the line-up (my next ten will all link to me, their ten will all link to them and me, etc.) 2.  You must answer the question in as much detail as possible.  :-) 3.  You must have fun! Now for the question: If someone offered you $1,000,000 for your blog would you take it and if so, what would you spend the money on? My answer: Absolutely I would take it! :-)  In a heartbeat.  I would use the money to pay off this house and buy another.  We live in an area near a cement plant.  We didn't know when we bought the house that the plant emits cement (among other things) at night while we're sleeping.  I can't have a vegetable garden like I always had before and the kids haven't been able to camp out in the back yard. I would also give a little to my parents and put a little back for the kids college.  Of course, a million dollars isn't worth as much as it used to be, my husband would have to keep working and I would still be frugal where I need to be.  :-) I tag: Well...those are my ten! T  A  G  !  !  You're it! :-) If anyone has a game of tag going I'd love to be tagged, also!
