How Does Your Garden Grow?

I joke about having a black thumb, but it really is the truth.

Up until recently, the only plants that we were allowed to take care of in our house were Aloe plants and Spider plants.  You can’t kill those things.

Even if you neglect to water them for…..forever, they’re very forgiving!

I usually like to buy the already-grown tomato and pepper plants and stick them in my garden.   Even with doing that, we oftentimes end up feeding the local wildlife rather than ourselves.

This year, we were a bit more adventurous, and tried planting some things from seeds.

I usually start planting later in the season than you’re supposed to.  This is actually the first year where we started a few plants inside.  They are still very small, but hopefully we’ll yield some veggies from those plants one day soon!

The kiddos and I just picked these non-pole beans this evening:

It looks like we’ll be able to pick some Sugar Daddy peas in another couple of days.  And I am very impatiently waiting for a Japanese eggplant to be ready!

Are you a gardener?  Do you have some great things that are ready to be picked?  (if you have beautiful, giant tomato plants, please don’t tell me about them.  I see them everywhere and am SO jealous!  Mine are teeny.)  icon wink How Does Your Garden Grow?

I hear you about the black thumb thing. I still haven't lived down the time I killed an air fern :-S….I conned my husband into letting me plant the two raised beds we were given last year and ours were in late too. However, I expect to be harvesting after everyone else is about done. It doesn't get too cold for a lot of stuff here until September on into October. Enjoy those peas!

  2. Isn't the season's first harvest from the garden fun! I too have a hard time being patient for harvest. I hope you have a bountiful harvest later this summer. :) Stopping by from the HSV Garden Challenge. :)
