How to Embed YouTube Videos on Your WordPress Site

Here’s an easy way to embed YouTube Videos on your site.

In your WordPress Dashboard, find Plugins (on the left-hand side menu), and under that, “Add New”.

In the Search box, type in “Smart YouTube”, and click the “Search Plugins” button.

At the time of this writing, they’re calling it Smart YouTube Pro.  Click on “Install Now”.

It should tell you that it successfully installed – don’t forget to click “Activate Plugin”.

Once you have that installed, you should be able to find a YouTube video that you want to embed.

Click on the “Share” button below the video.

See that link that appears?  Copy that.  You can do Ctrl + C to copy, or right click on it and click Copy.

Back in your post, click on the HTML tab:

Find where you want to put the video, and paste in the link.

BEFORE you go anywhere else, go to the link, and where it says “http://”, but a “v” just after the p – so it will say “httpv://www…….”

When you click back to your visual tab you WILL NOT see the video, but once you publish it (or preview it), you should see the video in your post.

Just for fun, here’s a video I really like by The Piano Guys:

Ironically, I accidentally had my Caps Lock on when I pasted that, and didn’t even notice.  My “V” was uppercase, so it didn’t work.  Make sure your “v” is lowercase!  🙂
