Kinderbach Music Curriculum {TOS #homeschool Review}

I started playing piano in the 1st grade, and basically played it right up until I graduated from high school.

After that, I would play every time I went home to my parent’s house, but I wasn’t actively taking lessons anymore.  I now have a piano of my own, but don’t find too much time to play with 2 kiddos that love to “help” me.  🙂

I strongly believe that everybody should learn how to read sheet music, and I definitely want my kiddos to learn how to play an instrument of some kind.  That being said, I hadn’t quite figured out how to teach them the music side of things.

I was jumping up and down when I was selected to review the KinderBach online music curriculum for the TOS Homeschool crew!

KinderBach is a Music curriculum for children ages 3 to 7.

From the website:

The KinderBach curriculum is a proven teaching method which gives children a solid music foundation, aligned with the MENC National Standards for Pre-K, that can translate to any instrument.  Basics are basics and KinderBach covers them using language children understand.  Youngsters will learn music vocabulary, note reading, rhythm, physical technique, ‘do, re mi’ singing, listening skills and music composition plus the joy in making music.

The lessons have the kids moving around, coloring, and keep them physically engaged.  For my kinesthetic learner (meaning he learns by moving), this is especially effective!

I still remember sitting in a chair that swiveled during my piano lessons, and squeaking it from side to side {and my mom holding it in place} as I was supposed to be learning the piano.  The Kinderbach way is much more fun….!

The kids also get to meet fun characters that they love….my kiddos especially love the Golden Retriever, Jake, that makes a few appearances.

For some of our other lessons, it’s a struggle to get the kiddos to sit through them, and they want to move on to something else as soon as possible.  I love that with this program, they don’t want to stop at just one lesson – they keep asking for more and more of them.

My son told me that he loved Kinderbach, and that he “really loves his teacher”.  (and he doesn’t mean me…he means Karri, the founder of KinderBach who does the instruction in the lessons!)

I absolutely love KinderBach….it is such a great program for the little ones, and it helps them learn the things that I hadn’t quite figured out how to teach them.   As I said, my kids really love the program as well.  You can’t go wrong with that!
