…or “No, thank you” if you must. Or how about “thank you for asking, but I just can’t“?
This is a difficult (but valuable) lesson that I’m learning right now.
Let me put it to you this way:
You’ve heard that God won’t give you more than you can handle, right? So you’re crying out in despair saying “God, WHY?! You’ve said you won’t give me more than I can handle, but this is JUST. TOO. MUCH!”
Well, in the calm silence that follows, what if you hear in that quiet place in your heart, “Sweet Child, I didn’t give this to you. YOU took it on. This was not my will, but yours.”
Ooh. Ouch. Ever been there? Do you say “Yes” before waiting to pray on it and then feel overwhelmed afterwards?
Think about it, my friend. Pray on it. And don’t be afraid to say no. It doesn’t make you a bad person. In fact, if you’re following His will, it will make you a better (less stressed!) person!
