Faith Filled Friday – When You Are In Need of Encouragement

I read this great post today by Sally Clarkson (writer, speaker, mom, encourager – I love her!), and oh boy could I relate to it. Not in quite the way that she was describing, though. In her personal Pity Party (her words, not mine!), she talked about being “too much”. In MY pity party, I’m having feelings of not being enough. Of pouring myself out in all areas until I have nothing left to give…..and it’s still not enough. It’s never enough.

BUT, I don’t normally like to invite people to my pity parties (or at least of late I haven’t been wanting to), so I’m not going to continue on in that vein.

Instead, I want to talk about some Bible verses that we can turn to and hide in our hearts when we are rocking out to the sound of our own tears (and wailing if you let yourself indulge in that).

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.  And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.” -Colossians 3:12-14

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” -Colossians 3:17

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” -Colossians 3:23-24

“I will exalt you, LORD, for you rescued me. You refused to let my enemies triumph over me.” -Psalm 30:1

“The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield and the horn of my salvation.

He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior—from violent men you save me.

I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies. “ 2 Samuel 22:2-4

“You have allowed me to suffer much hardship, but you will restore me to life again and lift me up from the depths of the earth.” -Psalm 71:20

“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!” -Isaiah 26:3

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” – Ephesians 2:10

“I have called you back from the ends of the earth,

saying, ‘You are my servant.’

For I have chosen you and will not throw you away.

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.

Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.

I will strengthen you and help you.

I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

“See, all your angry enemies lie there,

confused and humiliated.

Anyone who opposes you will die

and come to nothing.

You will look in vain

for those who tried to conquer you.

Those who attack you

will come to nothing.

For I hold you by your right hand—

I, the Lord your God.

And I say to you,

‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.
-Isaiah 41:9-13

Keep leaning on the Rock, my friends.  He will lift you above all of this if you trust the situation to Him.
