Marriage Tip: aka Preserving Your Sanity in the Long Run!

It seems that I learned a lot about marriage AFTER the fact – sorta’ like with parenting. 😉

I can still remember when my husband and I first got together, and I would be so uptight about certain things. For instance, the way that the laundry was folded (in my defense he folds the shirts in a really weird way!).

I have since learned that being ultra-picky and having ridiculously high expectations is exactly the way to go – if you don’t ever want your spouse to help you again!

My newest method of doing laundry these days is to wash everything (kid clothes together and adult clothes together since we use a separate non-allergenic detergent for the kiddos), and then sort the clothes into everybody’s basket. I’ve stopped bothering with folding them even, since everybody seems to UNfold them before they even make it to their respective drawers. SERIOUSLY!

So the lesson here is to lower your expectations somewhat (in certain areas, that is) if you ever want help again. Some things just aren’t worth making a fuss over!

  1. At this point anything that makes my life simpler is a good thing! My husband is the perfect folder of laundry, me – not so much. But we have also learned to not let the little things become big things. Thanks for stopping by the other day from the HHH!

  2. Good method!!
