Hey Bloggers!
As you may have noticed, I’m participating in the Ultimate Blog Party with 5 Minutes for Mom. It’s a GIANT blog-hop, and a ton of fun. There are so many awesome bloggers out there to connect with!
Sooooo I’ve been doing my partying on various blogs, and I’ve found a bunch that I LOVE and would love to remember to come back to. If you know anything about me, you know that I have some serious Mommy-brain going on, and that my memory stinks.
So my new favorite way to remember to visit blogs regularly is to subscribe to them via email. But a lot of blogs don’t have this option. I’m wondering if it’s a matter of not knowing how to add it? Surely they know they’re interesting enough to have email subscribers!
Well, I thought I’d post a quick little tutorial to show just how easy it can be to set it up on your own blog. I’m going to go ahead and assume that you already know how to add widgets, etc. to your blog and that you already have a google account. (if not, go ahead and sign up for one here. It’s free.) Don’t worry, I’ll wait right here for you. Are ya’ back? Okay, good!
If you do not already have a feedburner subscription, go to Feedburner.com. Type in your blog URL in the box that says ‘Burn a feed right this instant” and click the “Next” button.
You will receive a “Welcome, Let us burn a feed for you” message. Verify the information and click next on that screen.
You should Congrats message. For the purpose of this tutorial, click the “Skip directly to feed management” link that is to the right of the “Next” button.
Click the “publicize” tab up at the top:
Click the “email subscriptions” link from the left-hand menu:
Click the “activate” button:
Grab the code, or if you’re using blogger or typepad, create a widget:
So, what do you think? Was that easy? Do you have questions? If so, leave them for me in the comments and I’ll try to get back to you right away. If you added a email subscription to your site from this tutorial, I’d love to hear about it!
Happy blogging!
