In Need of Snack Help

Several times a week I pack up the kiddos and bring them to work with me.  On mornings like today I draaaaag through the morning, unable to bring myself to get them out the door.

So what’s stopping me?  [insert ominous music – dunh, duhn, DUHN]….the dreaded SNACK issue.  I’m not kidding.  I truly dislike coming up with snacks to bring.

It seems like the WHOLE day I hear from my 5-year-old “Mommy, I’m hungry and thirsty” (even while he’s holding a full water bottle….).  I don’t mean to complain, but the snacks that I bring are either not what they’re in the mood for, or they devour them and are still hungry.  Yeesh.  (It doesn’t help that tonight is the night that my husband does the grocery shopping, so we’re kind of low on supplies).

So if anyone has any snack ideas for a 5-year-old and a 19-month old, I’d greatly appreciate the suggestions.  Oh, and I do have a couple of requirements.  I’d love for them to be:

  • healthy (not too sugary)
  • not terribly messy/easily portable
  • not choking hazards
  • fun and exciting and wonderful to eat that they will never ever tire of.

erm….okay, maybe my expectations are a little high on that last one.

But seriously – could you leave me a comment with some snack suggestions?  They can be homemade or store-bought ideas……

    ~cheese sticks

    ~go-gurts (my kids–17 & 14–like to freeze them, then eat them)

    ~ritz crackers spread with cream cheese

    ~mini kabobs, use pretzles sticks and add cheese and fruit to them

    ~yogurt with granola (maybe too messy???) ~sandwiches made on mini pita breads or small dinner rolls

    ~cut up fruit

    ~granola bars
