Good Grief! Food & Juice Recalls Due to Presence of Lead!

Danger I just read on the Modern Mom website that there have been recalls on canned fruits, fruit juice and some baby foods. Yikes!

According to the Mayo Clinic website, here are the signs of lead poisoning to look for in:

your children:

  • Vomiting
  • fatigue/sluggishness
  • Irritability
  • Abdominal pain
  • Constipation
  • Loss of appetite and/or Weight loss
  • paleness caused by anemia
  • Learning difficulties

your newborns (if the mother was exposed to lead while the baby was in the womb):

  • growth delays
  • Learning difficulties

in yourself/your spouse:

  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Memory Loss
  • weakness of muscles
  • Abdominal pain
  • Mood disorders
  • extremities that are painful, numb or tingly
  • Miscarriage or premature birth in pregnant women
  • Reduced sperm count/abnormal sperm

Fortunately we don’t do juice very often in our house, and we’ve been making the baby’s food ourselves. Please pass this info on to your friends and family!

Update: I haven’t found any recall info on this on any official news sites yet.  However, I did just find out that Campbell’s is recalling some of their SpaghettiO’s products because one of the cookers malfunctioned and the meat may be undercooked.  Here are the lines that they are recalling from:

  • SpaghettiOs A to Z with Meatballs
  • SpaghettiOs Fun Shapes with Meatballs
  • SpaghettiOs with Meatballs
